The Nuventive Sustainability Ecosystem
Foster a More Sustainable Future with the APCU and Nuventive
Sustainability is no longer an optional endeavor for institutions of higher education—it’s a strategic imperative. The Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities (APCU) invites members to lead with a new Sustainability Ecosystem through Nuventive to address environmental challenges, reduce costs, and inspire students and alumni.
In partnership with Nuventive, the Data-Informed Improvement Company™, this program equips institutions to share information and learn as a community. The ecosystem is powered by the Nuventive Improvement Platform, which enables members to learn from each other’s effective practices, compare progress, and access actionable data. This approach creates a growing knowledge ecosystem to support sustainability efforts across APCU campuses.
Key program features:
- Access to data from other leading sustainability benchmarking services your institution may already be participating in, such as Second Nature
- Insights into initiative costs, funding, timelines, and outcomes
- Collaboration with sustainability leaders, including Agnes Scott College, Eckerd College, Macalester College, University of Pikeville, and Warren Wilson College
Backed by Data
APCU’s recent sustainability survey revealed 96% of institutions are motivated by environmental concerns, 83% seek cost savings, and 78% focus on energy management. However, 60% lack full-time sustainability staff, and 48% have no dedicated budget. The Sustainability Initiative aims to advance goals despite such limitations.
“Sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s a strategic opportunity. By reducing energy consumption and repurposing waste, we save money and strengthen our ability to serve students.” – President Burton Webb, University of Pikeville”
If you haven’t signed up for the Sustainability Ecosystem, reach out to APCU President Jeff Arnold at presbyteriancolleges.org to request an invitation. Together, we can make a difference for our campuses, communities, and the world.
